Asia’s first all-inclusive pro triathlon team in Phuket, Thailand

Thanyapura is home to one of the most beautiful triathlon training centres in the world. Open to the public and anyone looking to optimize their potential, it has been the training ground for world champions and the world’s very best athletes.

Now it has launched its very own Pro Triathlon Race Team.

This is the ultimate opportunity for those who want to go pro and make a living in this sport.

Most of the financial stress for up-and-coming professional triathletes comes from the day-to-day living costs when training and racing full-time. Finding competent training partners who can push you to optimize your potential can also be difficult when you don’t live near a training mecca.

On the Thanyapura Triathlon Team, athletes can just focus on quality training and winning races. The Asian race scene is booming and Thanyapura is right at the heart of it all.

This top team of elite semi-professional athletes will have the opportunity of a lifetime to live in Phuket and train at Thanyapura — all covered!

Antony Costes (FRA)

The 26-year-old Frenchman is currently ranked top 5 in the 70.3 World Rankings and one of the only professional athletes to have racked his bike ahead of Lionel Sanders this year by throwing down an incredibly fast 1:57 bike split in Panama and ultimately coming in 2nd behind the very fast Sanders. Antony is joining the team to prepare for the Asia Pacific Champs in Cebu and then the 70.3 World Championships in Mooloolaba, Queensland. After this he plans on doing a number of races around Asia and finish the year off with the Team racing at 70.3 Phuket. 

Anan 350

Anan Duangsopa (THA)

Considered to be the most talented Thai athlete at present, the 34-year-old has just left Navy service to focus and train full time as a triathlete. We will be helping Anan transition into a full time professional athlete and building up his swim so he can be in striking distance to unleash is very strong bike/run combination. 

Amelia 350

Amelia Watkinson (NZL)

One of the greatest female talents to come out of New Zealand in a while, the 27-year-old turned down the NZ national cycling team to turn pro triathlete in 2014, notching her first win that same year. She has the talent to threaten the absolute best females in the world for the top spot.

Already winning her first 3 races here in Asia convincingly she’s now got her sights set on the Asia Pacific Champs in Cebu then Challenge Malaysia 70.3 the following weekend.

Michelle 350

Michelle Duffield (AUS)

Mim competed in her first sprint triathlon at age 18 and was hooked, also inspiring her twin sister to take up the sport. After qualifying as an age grouper for Kona in 2011 and 2013 and winning silver in her age group, she turned pro and has stayed at the pointy end of the field even while working a full-time job.

As the focus of triathlon has moved toward Asia, Phuket with its numerous direct flights to major cities in Asia and Europe, low cost of living, and excellent training facilities out of Thanyapura has become a central location for athletes looking to cut their teeth as professionals.

Prospective team members must be willing to be based out of Phuket for a minimum of six months. They will be provided team racing and training kit, full board at Thanyapura and access to its training facilities, and private cottage housing nearby — an athlete village. They will have opportunity to train among peers, world champions, and the world’s best athletes and race the region’s top events to push them to optimize their potential.
