One month into 2015 and the training is heating up! Coach Jurgen has returned from the epic 900km bike ride from Bangkok to Phuket (via Siam Bike Tours), the EJSA Junior triathletes are hitting some form ahead of a big racing block, and the adult squad is growing in size every day.
Our executive chairman Chris McCormack and the director of our cycling academy, Nick Gates, recently in Australia to host two Thanyapura bunch rides at the Tour Down Under and celebrate the retirement of Aussie cycling great Cadel Evans. It was also a great way to get some extra kilometers in their legs as they prepare for the 2015 triathlon racing season.
Great racing coming up in Thailand
There are some great triathlon events coming up in Thailand which would be a great way to test your fitness early in the year. On the 14th of March is the Cha Am Triathlon and on the 29th of March is the Golden Triangle Triathlon in Chiang Rai. Both of these are fantastic events and will feature a strong presence of Thanyapura triathletes.
Also, an exciting race series out of Bangkok was recently announced that you should all get involved in, with some hot competition and plenty of racing available! You can check it out at: http://www.goadventureasia.com/tridash/
In our local scene in Phuket, the first of our Thanyapura Criteriums was held this month. A Criterium is a cycling race held on a small looped circuit. We had 45 athletes participate in the inaugural event which will be held EVERY Saturday with registration at Thanyapura from 7 a.m. This form of racing can be a great asset to your training with some fast racing as well as a demand for improved bike handling skills.
