Begin your beauty regime from within

Most of you are probably familiar with the phrase, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So we presume this means that we can all find different attributes and people attractive though they may not fit the image of what the mainstream considers as aesthetically beautiful. This may be a correct assumption however there may be much more to this phrase than first meets the eye.

There are some people we come across that though they age they seem to maintain a glow or a certain something, perhaps that twinkle in the eye. That no matter what age they are they look good. They emit a certain energy that appears to us as attractive. Their personality shines bright. Their character and soul is beautiful. Neglecting ourselves and each other or being unkind will instantly make us less attractive to others. Sometimes simply turning a frown into a smile will alter another’s perception of our beauty.

Health is also attractive. Health that can be maintained by eating well, regular exercise and good sleep. We can all benefit from avoiding too much direct sunlight, applying moisturizer and taking care of our skin and other parts. But there is a limit to what we can achieve aesthetically from the outside, in. Yoga works from the inside out.

Retarding the aging process. Encouraging the detoxification process and balancing the hormones and nervous system. All of this has an almost immediate effect on how we look. We feel better and our energy levels lift straight away. Soon we are effected at a cellular level through a regular yoga practice.

The body becomes svelte. The muscles tone and flexibility and strength increase. Poses such as a forward fold, camel and downward facing dog work wonders for your hair as the head’s position enhances blood circulation in your scalp, invigorating your hair follicles. Most asanas improve the skin. As blood flow is increased into certain areas the blood feeds the cells the required nutrients and flushes out toxins. Downward facing asanas reduces dullness and can even clear acne. The stabilizing effect a yoga practice can have on the hormones and balancing the body’s circadian rhythm also helps us to maintain our looks.

The peace of mind a regular yoga practice will bring helps us shine within and pretty soon everyone will notice. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, let that eye belong firstly to you.Not patching up things from outside but beginning with looking within and asking your body, mind and soul what it is you need. There is so much beauty in this world. Yoga helps us to open up and connect to that awareness. And even the very understanding of what beauty is can expand before you.

So what are you waiting for? Go grab a mat and get started today. Inhale, exhale and be beautiful.
