Junior School
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the Junior School of Phuket International Academy Day School.
I have recently been employed as the Junior School Principal and my family and I are excited about beginning our new lives here in Phuket starting in early August 2012. What inspired me to accept this position were PIADS’ strong philosophy, mission and vision statements that are based on best educational practices. When parents are choosing a learning environment for their elementary aged children (5 - 11 years old) they should be searching for a school that sets high educational standards, delivers a holistic approach to education and provides exceptional international teachers in a world class facility. PIADS is committed to being such a school.
We have recently been authorised to implement the International Baccalaureate Organisation Primary Years Programme (PYP), the most prestigious and fastest growing curriculum framework in the world! The programme focuses on developing students to become inquisitive, lifelong learners who are well equipped to adapt and contribute positively towards the betterment of our world. To achieve such ambitious goals, it is vital that the teachers are appropriately trained and qualified classroom practitioners. All of our teaching faculty are trained in implementing the PYP and have been employed from around the globe as experts in their specialist areas. Emphasis is placed on developing a strong foundation in numeracy and literacy attainment, while highlighting the sciences through authentic units of inquiry. Furthermore, we provide a wide range of specialist teachers to facilitate the arts (Art, Music and Drama) and specialise in high performance sports programmes taking full advantage of our world class facilities.
