B. Alan Wallace is the Chairman of the Thanyapura Mind Centre in Phuket and the founder and president of the Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies in the US. Inspired by a classic Tibetan Buddhist treatise on the nature and potentials of consciousness, he started his studies of Tibetan Buddhism, language, and culture in 1970 at the University of Göttingen in Germany. Over the course of the next 14 years, he continued his studies in various countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, and the United States. From 1975 he lived as an ordained Buddhist monk for 12 years and served as a translator to H.H the Dalai Lama during his first teaching tour in the west.
In 2003, he established the Santa Barbara Institute for Consciousness Studies, a non-profit organization dedicated to synthesizing scientific and contemplative inquiry into the nature and potential of the human consciousness. He has written, edited, translated and contributed to more than 30 books and publications on Tibetan Buddhism, medicine, language, and culture, and the interface between science and religion. More
Andrea Capellari – Mind Trainer
Andrea teaches meditation regularly to hundreds of students and also leads intensive meditation retreats, focusing specifically on the cultivation of concentration and meditative insight. He promotes the growth of awareness and perception, in their various applications in the fields of sensory cognition, introspection and the development of emotional balance.
Pierre Gagnon – Mind Trainer
Pierre coordinates insight meditation retreats. Having a great interest in the field of neuroscience, he likes to integrate these concepts to meditation practice. He believes that much of our life is lived resisting and defending against internal and external experiences that people perceive as threats. Through the development of concentration and meditation, we can insight-fully see that all experiences are harmless and there is no need to defend of contract around them.
