CHRIS McCORMACK – Executive Chairman
Thanyapura’s Executive Chairman, Chris “Macca” McCormack, is one of the world’s greatest triathletes. He has held the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Champion title 5 times, the Ironman Champion title 12 times, and is the only person ever to hold the ITU Olympic distance and Ironman World Champion titles at the same time. He has broken the 8-hour barrier over the Ironman distance 4 times – the only man to break the barrier more than twice. Hailed by ESPN as the “world’s fittest athlete”, Macca has clocked up more than 220 wins during his career as a professional triathlete, with a stunning 76 per cent win rate in his race career events. Triathlon magazine has selected him as International Athlete of the Year 4 times, and he’s written a best-selling autobiography, I’m Here To Win.
PHILIPP GRAF VON HARDENBERG – President & CEO
German-born Mr Graf von Hardenberg wears many hats: business coach, entrepreneur, financier, educator, hotelier, fund-raiser, and philanthropist. He has turned around the fortunes of the first International School in Berlin, set up Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation in Germany and played a leadership role in turning Ritz-Carlton Hotels into a global five-star luxury brand. The Graf von Hardenberg name has long been known to the populace of greater Phuket and Phang Nga provinces after his swift and effective actions following the 2004 tsunami. He founded and drove the success of the Yaowawit School, a government-approved, public welfare boarding school looking after Thai children from unfortunate backgrounds that is all but self-reliant through projects generated to cover running costs and offer training and employment.
JEANNE OZORIO – Chief Finance Director
Canadian Jeanne Ozorio is at the helm of reviewing the entire financial performance of the Thanyapura group of companies. She has proved her credentials with more than 20 years experience of accounting and controlling finances in the hospitality sector, leaving her well placed to manage the financial performance of Thanyapura’s 14 companies covering hotels, a school, sports complex, security, management service, organic farming and sales. Her love of travelling took her from her native Canada to Asia, where she has held prominent financial roles for hotels and resorts across Indonesia, Hong Kong and Thailand.
DEBBIE DIONYSIUS – Director of Marketing
Debbie Dionysius is the Director of Marketing at Thanyapura Phuket. She was previously the long-standing Assistant Vice President of Destination Marketing at Laguna Phuket, an integrated resort lifestyle complex, where she was the key figure in transforming the Laguna Phuket Triathlon into Southeast Asia’s premier multi-sport event attracting approximately 2000 competitors. She was also influential in the establishment of the Laguna Phuket International Marathon which welcomes approximately 5000 participants annually. Ms Dionysius, from Australia, has lived in Phuket since 1995 and with her expertise in marketing communications, business development, event and brand management she is well positioned to build up Thanyapura’s key product and event offerings to bolster the Thanyapura vision of a unique total health approach to fitness and wellness.
SUDANONG SAMANTARAT – Director of Human Resources
MBA graduate Ms Sudanong is renowned for her strong work ethic and energetic enthusiasm for her work, thanks to her many years experience in the human resources sector of the hospitality industry. A Thai national, fluent in English, Ms Sudanong was a natural choice for Human Resources Director at Thanyapura. Her previous role as Human Resources Manager for Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa saw her hone her skills in HR planning and forecasting, performance management, talent management – including an online recruitment programme – and HR profit and loss control. Prior to this position, she developed her people management skills for other illustrious resorts including JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and Andaman White Beach Resort in Phuket.
PROF. DR MICHAEL KLENTZE – Chief Medical and Scientific Officer
Dr Klentze graduated from medical school in Munich in 1976, and completed his Ph.D in 1984. Dr Klentze holds qualifications in Neurochemistry, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Endocrinology and Diabetology. In 1996 the Klentze Institut was founded, specializing in anti-aging and regenerative medicine. In the following years Dr Klentze became a sought-after speaker in aging and preventive medicine, and has continued to remain on the cutting edge of medical science with extensive involvement in stem cell and genetics applied in clinical medicine. Dr Klentze is currently the Chief Scientific and Medical Officer of the Klentze Medical Faculty, medical training company, specialising in anti-aging, preventive and regenerative medicine, and at the Thanyapura Integrative Health Centre (TIHC) since 2012. Dr Klentze has held several notable positions including: Secretary General of the European Society of Preventive, Regenerative and Anti-Aging Medicine between 2003-2009; Senior Professor at Mae Fa Luang University, Bangkok, Thailand; Visiting professor at Udayana University in Bali and at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur; Scientific advisor at Pfizer in Germany between 2005-2008 for clinical applications in anti-aging medicine; International Medical Director of Vitallife Corp. Ltd (Bumrungrad Hospital) from 2009 to 2011.
